The coolest Airbnbs in the world include:
1. Coolest Airbnbs—Private Jet
Dale Johnson, a co-founder of Nomad Paradise, says that this converted private jet is the most unique Airbnb he’s ever stayed in. Having traveled to, or lived in, 29 different countries, that says a lot! We all have a deep desire to ride on a private jet, right? Well, this Airbnb in West Wales, UK, can (sort of) make that dream come true!
Set amid the idyllic countryside of Redberth, this converted private jet is one of the coolest Airbnbs you’ll ever stay in. Called The Jet Star, the jet is full of quirks. It includes the original seating from the 70s, an Xbox in the cockpit, and a ship-style bedroom built on the rear with a double bed. Surrounded by luscious countryside, it’s a perfect, totally unique getaway for couples and families.
2: Coolest Airbnbs—Luxury Yacht
According to Dave Boehl, CEO of BeachDeals, this epic YOLO luxury yacht rental comes with a licensed captain and stewardess. It sleeps up to 12 and basic provisions are supplied. It comes with water toys, a BBQ for grilling, and even a drone for getting some epic Instagram shots of your adventure. The Yacht rentals include views of the picturesque Biscayne Bay. At around $4k per night, it’s definitely an original Florida experience!
3: Coolest Airbnbs—Airplane Hangar
The rural Danville B&B is 5-star Airbnb-rated, in Florida. It is self-contained in an airplane hangar that looks like a country porch upon arrival, then magically transforms into a mini-town with the flick of a switch. It features a cozy inn with two guest rooms, an Irish Pub, theater, photo booth, and a wedding pavilion.
Additional hangars house small aircraft, a man cave, and classic cars. The owner/pilot will fly guests for an aerial view of the area in his private plane and guests can tool around in vintage vehicles from the classic car hangar or roam the property on Segways. Guests can enjoy a stay in the master suite, with access via a private residential elevator or the dramatic oak staircase.
4: Coolest Airbnbs—Windmill
According to Torben Lonne, diver and co-founder of DIVE.in, nothing tops this windmill that was built in 1874. Although it can sleep up to 6 in its 3 bedrooms, the location is perfect for a romantic getaway as it’s cozy and surrounded by green fields and farm animals, yet only 10 minutes away from Amsterdam. A night goes for about $200 for a couple, which is relatively inexpensive given its location and uniquely charming interior.
5: Coolest Airbnbs—Gamer’s Paradise
James Cave, travel writer at Portugalist.com, says what might look like a kid’s room at first is, in fact, a paradise for nerdy travelers visiting Lisbon. Everything in the room – including the duvet – is Super Mario themed and the room comes complete with a Nintendo Wii U console with more than 20 games as well as two Nintendo 3DSs. And, naturally, you can also watch Netflix on the TV as well.
The room, which is part of a 5-bedroom apartment that’s described as the “geekiest apartment in Lisbon” has been featured in countless publications including Mashable, the Lonely Planet, The Huffington Post, and CNET.
6: Coolest Airbnbs—Container House
The Donkey Holla Container House is the tropical getaway you’ve been looking for. It incorporates the modern, industrial design theme of shipping containers along with a huge indoor/outdoor screened-in common area. Cook in the open kitchen or walk to the local restaurants in the quaint town of Coral Bay.
Since it’s set in the beautiful US Virgin Islands, it’s a quick and passport-free trip for US Citizens. With easy access to stunning beaches, exciting snorkeling spots, and the historical 7000+ acre Virgin Islands National Park, you’re well-positioned for adventure AND relaxation. You can find more container house rentals here.
7: Stay Like a Playmate
Renowned pin-up star, Playboy Playmate and Vegas headliner Claire Sinclair has unveiled her one-of-a-kind boutique hotel renovation and passion project, Clairbnb. Each of Clairbnb’s seven rooms is intricately curated and outfitted with chic and skillfully-sourced décor, allowing guests the opportunity to transform their common hotel experience into a vital destination in itself.
Every unique theme has been imagined by Claire Sinclair and brought to life by local artist Jon Crowder. Years of collecting and perfecting designs went into creating Clairbnb – with rooms like: The 70’s Suite, The Playhouse, and The Fairy Tale Suite. Clairbnb is 420-friendly and encouraging of photoshoots!
8: Coolest Airbnbs—Medieval Keep
Has it ever occurred to you how it feels living in a castle? Do you fascinate the kings who lived in castles with massive walls? According to senior publisher Junaid, you can have that feeling by living in this 11th-century castle. The medieval tower is available on Airbnb for ten guests.
If you are someone who loves to explore historical places, you can’t miss staying at this castle. The five bedrooms Flocelliere castle is perfectly maintained with a beautiful garden. There is a huge dining room to have your dinner after a hectic day. It is located just an hour’s drive from Nantes airport.
9: Coolest Airbnbs—Beer-Lovers Paradise
42 North Brewing Company in East Aurora, NY recently expanded its brewery to become a craft beer campus. It’s complete with four attached AirBnB rooms that overlook the Biergarten and brewery floor. Each rental of Lofts at 42 is accessed using a key fob, features a king-size bed, and a small refrigerator.
Plus, there’s a walk-in shower and comes with a growler to be filled with the renter’s favorite 42 North beer. Each one has its own theme that speaks to the brewery’s history with unique furnishings and artwork to match.
10: Coolest Airbnbs—19th Century Brothel
Located in Albuquerque, this is one of the coolest Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. I booked it last-minute while in town for a family celebration. It was originally built as a brothel with attached “wine room” and saloon. It’s now a newly restored Airbnb with thick adobe walls, original wood floors, 11′ ceilings, covered portal, brick paths and a fantastic outdoor space (including a vintage ‘Alburquerque trolley car’).
Tales of buried money, hidden rooms, and Billy the Kid await you inside. The property is centrally located and just 1-mile from the Historic Old Town Plaza, Museum Row, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and Downtown ABQ entertainment district.
Bottom Line—The Coolest Airbnbs in the World
If you’re a fan of collecting bucket list experiences, you’ll want to stay in the Albuquerque brothel, the medieval keep in France, or even in a private jet in the UK.
