Photos of Abu Dhabi: I was with my girlfriends in Dubai when one of them suggested we hire a driver for the day and head to Abu Dhabi for around $400 USD total for the day. We were unenthused—what’s in Abu Dhabi? We pulled up Google Images and were genuinely shocked by the splendor we saw before us. Abu Dhabi is absolutely breathtaking.
The next day, our driver arrived early to take us from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, which is only about 90 minutes away. Wondering where on Earth Abu Dhabi is? It’s in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). We felt very safe in all of the UAE. Our driver said that Dubai gets its money from tourism and it’s all new money. He went on to tell us that Abu Dhabi is all oil money and is much older than Dubai’s money, although both are relatively new.
Our first stop was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. You’ll have to remove your shoes and wear a headscarf. If you don’t have one, there are plenty for you to borrow while there. A word of caution: don’t strike a pose for pictures or put your arms around your friends. The guards will ask you to delete the photos and watch as you do. No hands in the air.
After visiting the Grand Mosque, we went to the shopping mall for a bite to eat and shopping before heading to Emirates Palace. This place is gorgeous, and if you act like you belong there, you can go in and take pictures around the building without anyone batting an eye that you don’t have a room there. Be sure to enjoy the cafe—they have all kinds of goodies to feast on.
If you have time, be sure to stop at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which is a Formula 1 track. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time. However, we’ll definitely be back to the UAE and we can go next time.

Hi Saad,
You could probably tackle most of the UAE hotspots in a week, but two is best. Thanks for stopping by!
