If your other half has popped the question then you may be in the process of planning an awesome wedding. If you don’t fancy getting married in your home town or even your home country then there are plenty of other options. You could have what is known as a destination wedding, this is where you travel elsewhere to get married. If you aren’t sure how to go about planning this then take a look at the article below.

Venue
One thing you need to work out is where you want to get married, this could be absolutely anywhere from Florida to London. Once you know the destination you have in mind you can start researching venues. If you aren’t too familiar with the place you are getting married then you can always check online for popular wedding venues. Don’t forget if you have always wanted a beach wedding then this is also a possibility.
Date
Now you need to speak to the venue about the particular dates that you had in mind, to see if they also have them available. You may need to be somewhat flexible when it comes to dates and your chosen venue, especially if it’s a popular choice for other couples. You may have to wait up to two years for a date that suits you, so always be prepared for this eventuality. However, if you aren’t too fussy and all you want to do is marry the love of your life then you should be able to find dates coming up in the not so distant future.
Guests
If you are having a destination wedding you need to prepare yourself for the fact that not all your guests will be able to make it. Destination weddings often mean extra costs such as travel and airfare, not everyone has spare cash laying around for this. Speak to your guests individually to find out who can make it and who can’t, this also saves you wasting money on invites. You may want your parents and your other half’s parents, so maybe put extra money aside so you can fly them over.
Dress
You may be worried about transporting your dress to your chosen destination. Something you could do, if you are also having a little break away is get your dress in the place you are getting married. This saves you worrying about the airlines losing your dress or it getting crumpled in storage. Have a search around for dress shops, you may get lucky and find the dress of your dreams straight away.
Photographer
Every great wedding needs a wonderful photographer to capture your special day. Think about how long you want your photographer to stick around and which parts of the wedding you want them to photograph. They will charge different amounts for half a day to a full day, so it all depends what fits into your budget. You can research and book top photographers, make sure you do this in advance so they have your dates available.
We hope you found this article helpful and that it gave you plenty of tips and tricks on how to pull off an epic destination wedding.
