Holiday Spirit 101
Dress for the Season
One way to get into the holiday spirit is through your style and dressing for the season. Update your wardrobe by investing in some sweaters, new boots, and holiday graphic t shirts. A new and improved wardrobe will make sure that you are dressed appropriately for the weather and the holidays. Have fun going through your closet and deciding what you want to keep and adding some new warm and fashionable items to your wardrobe this year.
Bake and Watch a Classic Movie
Another way to get into the holiday spirit is to bake cookies or sweets that you can enjoy with your family. Put on some Christmas music in the background and light a pleasant-smelling candle to set the right mood. Baking is a fun activity you can do with your kids and a way to spend some quality time together. After you’re finished baking you can eat your treats as you watch a classic or favorite holiday movie. We like to put our tree up on Black Friday, and spend the day baking and watching Christmas movies.
Attend a Festive Event
Go out and attend a festive or winter event if you want to get into the holiday spirit. There’s likely a lot going on right in your location or community that will be enjoyable to check out. Go online to research activities and to-dos that are happening and see what’s out there and what people are talking about doing over the holidays. Going to a festive event such as a parade or winter gathering with food and friends is sure to put you in the spirit and a good mood. You may find an event you enjoy so much that you’ll want to make it a family tradition that you go to it each year.
Decorate Your Home
You’re likely going to be spending more time indoors as the weather turns and gets snowy and cold. In this case, you want to make sure it’s a comfortable and cozy space that makes you feel happy. Get into the holiday spirit by decorating your home inside and out with lights and garlands and other holiday items. If you don’t have a whole lot to put out then consider going shopping and stocking up on festive pieces that you can display this year.
You might also want to use your free time to make a holiday craft or decoration with your kids that you can then put out. You’ll love the feeling that decorating your home gives you and you’ll likely enjoy the decorations so much you’ll have trouble taking them down when the holidays are over.
