I receive monetary compensation from General Mills in exchange of my endorsement of Box Tops for Education
When I was a kid, our classrooms would have competitions to see who could collect the most Box Tops. Eagerly, we’d all race home and scour the cupboards, scissors-in-hand, searching for Box Tops. During grocery shopping trips, we’d beg our parents to pick products that had them, too.
Let’s face it: we were in it to win it
The winning classrooms would either get an ice cream or pizza party, served by none other than all of the teachers!
Now that I have three children of my own, I’ve come to learn that Box Tops are so much more than that. We see stories every day from teachers and other educators about how school budgets are insufficient. Just yesterday I read a story about a teacher who was talking about how badly they needed school supplies for the classrooms while in public, and strangers all around gave cash to her right then and there!
Started in 1996, America’s schools have earned over $868,000,000 through Box Tops for Education. You can view their website to see how much your school has earned this year, and even compare it to other schools. Our town is tiny, but still has earned $780.50 so far this year.
This means less out-of-pocket costs for our teachers.
This means more supplies and equipment for our children.
How you can help
Clip the Box Tops off approved products you’ve already got in your pantry! They’re on things like frozen foods, snacks/cereals, cleaning products, and more. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents – and this adds up fast!
To give you a head start, check out the products I got on my most recent trip to Costco – each of these has Box Tops!
Be sure your Box Tops aren’t expired! They don’t need to be neat, they just have to show the expiration date.
Once you’ve got a bunch of Box Tops, download a collection sheet, stick the Box Tops on the sheet, and send them to school with your child. Most collection sheets hold 10-25 Box Tops.
Download a collection sheet here.
Once you send the collection sheet to school, they will be rounded up by a volunteer coordinator who runs your local Box Top program.
You can also win Box Tops! 3,000 members will win 100 Box Tops through the Inspire Imagination contest for their school.
All you have to do is share your story about how Box Tops inspires your kids, and you could win! Just by sharing, you have an opportunity to instantly win Box Tops!
I did it myself, and instantly won! How cool!
