Scrolling through TikTok late one night, I came across a review of a lady doing a preventative whole body MRI scan. I thought, wow, that’s cool! I’d always wanted to do a full-body scan, especially after my dad died the day after we found out he had metastatic cancer. Because of advanced kidney disease and some allergies, he couldn’t get traditional scans that might’ve saved his life if it were caught early.
Enter Prenuvo. And before you ask, no, this post isn’t sponsored, and I paid for the scan myself. I sent them an email before I booked a scan asking if they had a blogger program or similar so I could do a more comprehensive review with lots of footage and such, but I didn’t hear back (I still haven’t). However, the concept is so cool and has so many potentials, I knew I had to document my experience either way.

Prenuvo is a Canadian-based company that offers a unique and comprehensive approach to preventative health screening. The company specializes in full-body MRI scanning, which allows for a complete and detailed picture of the body’s internal structures and organs. Prenuvo aims to detect potential health issues before they become serious problems and offers personalized health guidance to help individuals optimize their health and wellbeing.
One of the main advantages of a Prenuvo scan is the level of detail it provides. Traditional medical imaging techniques, such as X-rays or CT scans, focus on individual organs or specific parts of the body. In contrast, a full-body MRI scan offers a comprehensive view of the entire body, including the head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities. This level of detail can help detect issues that might otherwise go unnoticed, such as tumors or lesions.
Aside from my dad’s metastatic cancer, my great grandma died of a brain tumor, and my mom has MS (which this scan can detect). I also had precancerous growths removed from my body several times, so getting a regular full body scan is something I’ll do now that I have easy access to one.
Another advantage of a Prenuvo scan is that it does not use ionizing radiation, which is a risk associated with X-rays and CT scans (hence why my dad couldn’t get them). MRI uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to create images of the body, which means that there is no radiation exposure. This makes Prenuvo scans a safer option for individuals who require frequent imaging for medical reasons or who are concerned about the long-term effects of radiation exposure.
The Prenuvo scanning process is straightforward and non-invasive. It takes 90 minutes to complete the scans, which involve lying on a table with a large cylindrical magnet. The machine makes a series of loud banging noises as it takes images of the body, but earplugs and headphones are provided to minimize any discomfort. My tech asked what kind of music I want to listen to on Pandora, and I told him Black Veil Brides. You’ll have to remove all of your jewelry, and they provide scrubs to wear in a wide variety of sizes, including a sports bra (you get to keep the sports bra at the end). This is because a lot of fabric, especially technical fabrics and metallic fibers, can affect the image quality.
After the scan, Prenuvo provides a comprehensive report that includes a detailed analysis of the images and any potential health issues that were detected. The report is reviewed by a team of radiologists and health professionals, who provide personalized guidance and recommendations based on the individual’s results. This guidance may include recommendations for lifestyle changes, further testing, or consultation with a specialist.
It’s important to note that a Prenuvo scan is not a replacement for regular medical care or routine screenings. Rather, it is an additional tool that can be used to detect potential health issues before they become serious problems. Prenuvo recommends that individuals who undergo a scan continue to receive regular medical care and screenings from their primary care physician or other healthcare providers.
How much is a Prenuvo Scan?
In terms of cost, a Prenuvo scan is not typically covered by insurance. However, the company offers a variety of payment options, including financing plans, to make the service more accessible. The cost of a scan can depends on the package you select. I got the full body scan, which is $2,499, but using my code CKI2M, you can save $100.

My Prenuvo Scan Results
I had my scan Feb. 9, 2023 and received my results on Feb 25, 2023 — a Saturday. I knew it’d find the nodules on my thyroid, and was surprised to learn about the issues with my spine (including a 14mm cyst and several bulging discs). There are also a few recommendations for follow-up tests that I’ll discuss with my PCP.
You can click each dropdown for a detailed review of their findings along with imaging and recommendations.
Would I do it again? Yes. Will I? Also yes. Prenuvo recommends I do a repeat scan in one year.
