Speaker 2: 00:12 Hey guys, what’s up? It is Kathy Haan. Today is Monday, October 22nd and I am so excited. I have been working on my book for a while now and you know, I have lots of books in process like a lot of entrepreneurs, but this one in particular is going to be really helpful to you. And the reason for that is because I am going to be breaking down everything I know about building your list and building your tribe through that list. So I’m super excited. As soon as I have all of the details, I’m happy to share that with you all. Uh, you will be getting a free signed copy. And so again, I’ll have all of those details for you. Um, but today’s episode, it’s going to be short and sweet, but I want to talk to you about your business. Now. There are so many of you who probably get easily distracted by all the cool shiny things.
Speaker 2: 01:14 And I know because, um, as somebody who I get easily distracted and wanted do and see all of the cool things, but in your business that can be really detrimental and the reason for that is because of you are spreading yourself across all of these different things, then you can’t be a master of anything and that’s a big problem. So here’s what I want you to do. I want you to commit to me that today your life will look radically different in one year from now and you’re like, okay, I’m down for that Kathy. But how do I do that? And I’m going to tell you how, but there’s one mentor in particular posed a challenge to me today. And to be honest, it kind of scared the crap out of me because I know how much consistency matters in this business and really anything that you do, particularly as an entrepreneur, uh, making sure that you’re consistent day in and day out is so important.
Speaker 2: 02:13 And so he posed to me today that I need to commit for an entire year to post. I’m like, okay, what am I posting? And you know, I do post on social media every single day, multiple times per day, however, that’s not really what he meant. So he gave me three options. I could post a video every single day or go live on instagram or on facebook. And the next thing he posed to me was I could blog every single day or I could do a podcast every single day. And my mind kind of went railing through of the different options. And for me I was like, yeah, the video would be nice and I think that it could really help my business in the long run. However, I am the type of person where like, my brand is super glam. And so if I am going to be doing my hair and makeup every day, that would be a problem just because most most days, like I’m not in hair and makeup.
Speaker 2: 03:26 And I wear like my yoga pants and Hoodie and a messy bun. Um, so if I were to show up every single day without my brand, which is Super Glam, my brand will change and I don’t want that. And I am going to be the first person to say I know for a fact that I won’t get up at 6:00 every morning to do my hair and makeup. It just won’t work out. I’m a mom of three kids and um, you know, have a lot of irons in the fire. So it’s just not going to happen. So you’ve got to really know yourself when you’re deciding which one you want to choose. Now for the blogging every single day, I thought, hey, you know what that would be, that would be cool. And it’s something that I’ve thought about for awhile. However, for me, like I don’t want to just post content for the sake of posting content when I’m blogging, I want to make sure that it’s curated and that it’s put together well.
Speaker 2: 04:18 And the reason for that is because I’m a professional blogger, like I get paid for this. And so if I just put out content for the sake of putting out content and it’s not like really polished stuff, then my income can start to go down as far as opportunities from different brands and such. And you may not agree with anything that I’m saying, but this is just like my rationale and I’m not trying to justify anything. I’m just thinking about like, this is what I know. Okay. Um, and then the last option was to podcast every day and I thought, you know what? I do have a podcast. It does well, and it’s something that I think I can do because I don’t have to get dressed up every day. All I have to do is spout off at the mouth. And so there are probably some of you who are thinking, Hey, you know what, that sounds like a great idea because I’m a lot like you.
Speaker 2: 05:13 I don’t want to have to get dressed every day. And um, it’s a lot easier for me to just spout off at the mouth about different things. And the biggest thing that you need to think about when you’re doing this is you aren’t necessarily podcasting for your audience at this point, you’re podcasting for yourself because you are going to continue to refine your message over and over and over and over again. So you may have people who come in at the beginning and see yourself and you’re like, wow, what a train wreck, but they’ll get to see you evolve over time. And that actually kind of reminds me of a message that I got. I think it was about a month ago from a guy that I had prospected way back in the day when I was a Beachbody coach, so it was probably eight years ago that I first connected with this guy and like I sent him this long book basically like spamming him, asking to be his, his Beachbody coach.
Speaker 2: 06:14 And miraculously he decided to be friends with me on facebook and he’s watched me evolve over the years and he said to me, in so many words that it’s been really cool seeing my evolution over this time from somebody who worked in MLM. Not that there’s anything wrong with an MLM, but to somebody who has now like completely come out on the other side and is holding her own. Making Bank, inspiring people all over the world. I’m doing all this really cool stuff and so don’t be afraid for people to see that evolution and I think so many times that people who are at a higher level like to hide like all of their past, like screw ups and all of that, but imagine like, how would you like to have documentation of Gary Vaynerchuk every single day, his evolution from like day one all the way up to where he is now.
Speaker 2: 07:14 Like how valuable would that be because it’s essentially like a blueprint, right? A blueprint of going from where you are to being an internationally recognized name, like that’s a pretty big deal. So as you’re going through this, think about how you can document this journey and so that’s what I’m doing with you. And so today is day one of that journey. I’m asking you guys to keep me accountable. I know. Just knowing me like I do significant amounts of travel and with things that come up with the family, I know that I’m going to have to do these podcasts in advance. So I’m a little nervous and I know that there are some of you here listening who probably feel the same way, like, yeah, that’d be a great idea, but I also know myself, and I know that I can never stick to anything, but imagine for a minute what would happen if you didn’t let yourself down. What would happen if you were disciplined enough to do the things that you said you were going to do? How different would your life be one year from now? Is that enough for you
Speaker 2: 08:30 and is it enough for you to decide that, okay, I’m not going to let myself down anymore and this is something that I’m going to do every single day because my mentor told me to do so. If I can guarantee you that if you did this for 365 days in a row that your life and your business would be radically different one year from now, would you do it? Would that be enough for you? And if it’s not then I don’t know what to tell you. I know for me, I’m in a lot different place than I was eight years ago. However, that has been a journey of eight years. What if I could accomplish what I have in eight years in a year’s time? What if you could do that?
