A year ago they put in an ice cream shop in my tiny town. It opened shortly before I was due with Christian and I knew it was going to be the death of me! Kirk would give me a sly grin every time I told him I wanted to walk until the baby came out. He knew better. I wanted to walk to get some ice cream! Can you blame me? Ice cream is yummy!!
For my birthday last year, my dad got me a gorgeous Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. He also got me an ice cream attachment so that I could make homemade ice cream. Talk.about.heaven!
I made this recipe in honor of my dad. I just know he would have loved it…with the yummy salted chocolate and caramel…real vanilla bean….and HOMEMADE ice cream!
Normally, I would make my own caramel, but my daddy loved chocolate and I found NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® DelightFulls™ Caramel Filled Morsels that made my job so much easier!
I just know you’re going to love this. Who doesn’t love homemade ice cream?
Ingredients
3 cups heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup sugar
Pinch of Real Salt
1 vanilla bean
1 tbsp real vanilla extract
1 package NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® DelightFulls™ Caramel Filled Morsels
Directions
- Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to saucepan on medium heat, adding sugar and salt. Gently whisk or stir to combine.
- Split the vanilla bean in half and scrape the insides–adding both the empty bean and the little flecks of vanilla into the mixture.
-
Remove from heat, and add the remaining heavy whipping cream to cool mixture down.
-
Add the real vanilla extract.
-
Chill in the fridge and/or freezer until cool (or, you can put it outside in the freezing cold like I did!).
-
Freeze mixture according to your ice cream maker directions.
-
Fold in NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® DelightFulls™ Caramel Filled Morsels
-
Freeze mixture if desired, or serve immediately. If serving immediately, it will be a bit soupy but still delicious!
I like to put mine in mason jars (make sure to leave enough head room!) and then freeze. The chocolate settles to the bottom, but you could probably chop the NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® DelightFulls™ Caramel Filled Morsels so that they don’t settle as much. I keep them in the freezer for my cheat days! Like tonight, I’m planning my meal plan while eating my mason jar of ice cream!

Have you ever made homemade ice cream? How did it turn out?
This is a sponsored post by NESTLÉ® but my love for homemade ice cream is all my own!
