It’s no secret that Colorado Springs is one of the world’s most breathtaking destinations…but it’s also packed full of family-friendly things to do! I’ve curated a list of the top 5 family-friendly places to visit while there.

1. Space Foundation Discovery Center

   I think every child at some point wants to be an astronaut. For kids and kids at heart, you can experience scale-sized space shuttles, labs and space stations. These hands-on activities allow children to learn by doing – something this mom can get behind!

2. Dinosaur Resource Center

   Ever since watching my favorite dinosaur trilogy as a kid, I’ve been obsessed with dinosaurs. This love has transferred to my children, too! Here you can see skeletons and fossils of T-Rexes, raptors, giant flying and marine reptiles, carnivorous fish and life restorations. They can even view a real working fossil preparation laboratory!

3. White Water Rafting

   There are a number of white water rafting companies, including several that specialize in families. 

4. Adventures Out West’s Sunrise Flight in a hot air balloon

   High Flying Adventure in the Pikes Peak region!  No two flights are ever the same.  They soar over Colorado Springs on calm sunny days.  Awesome views of the Front Range of Colorado and the great plains beyond will greet you.  Climb aboard and join the crew for an experience of a lifetime.

5. Manitou Cliff Dwellings

Experience the life of the Ancient Puebloan tribes. This child and pet-friendly stop showcase ancient architecture that visitors are free to interact with and explore. Enjoy American Indian dances and real wolf encounters during the summer.

 

There are activities for families of all ages and stages. Some of my fondest memories as a teenager were whitewater rafting and spending time near the Royal Gorge.
